Blogging - Practical Windows Progams & More

Thanks to Vlady Rozenbaum, we have a link to http://blogs.zdnet.com for tips on practical
Windows programs. Included are 10 Windows applications the writer claims to use every
day. Check the blog for details, but my personal favorites were:

SnagIt (TechSmith), a screen capture program and Windows Live Photo Gallery (Microsoft),
recently updated and excellent for XP and Vista. But there’s more, so take a look.

Increase Browser text size

Often, when reading online material, our browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, etc) text size is too small!

The two key command for Mac users to alter browser text size is Command/+ to increase or Command/- to decrease. Hold the Command key, then press either + or – key until you achieved the desired size.

For PC users with a wheel mouse, hold down the Control key and roll the wheel toward you.

Using Different Browsers

Vista users should avoid using Internet Explorer until Microsoft offers an update made for Vista.

PC Users have multiple browser choices, including Firefox and Safari.

Here are tips when using the Firefox browser:
To open a specific tab in Firefox, press Ctrl + 1 through Ctrl 9. Tabs are not numbered, so you must count them on your own!

Firefox allows a combo key click if you do not have a scroll wheel. Hold down Ctrl while left clicking a link to open a URL in a new tab, or hold Shift and left click to open a URL in a new window.

Firefox also provides 3 methods to open new tabs. You can open a page in a new window, open the page in a new tab, or replace your current page in the front window. Using the Options window, click the Advanced section to customize as you please.
